At the heart of Unit 4 are people and law. This means that you will study the relationship between the Australian people, the Australian constitution and the legislative bodies. In this area of study, you will examine how this Constitution controls Parliament in legislation and how it relates to the Australian people. Essentially, the key knowledge for the first area of study is an overview of important concepts and terms that appear throughout VCE legal studies. The second area of investigation is the presumption of innocence. This area of study aims to develop your understanding of the key ideas and types of crimes in criminal law. Study Area 2 focuses on the Victorian civil justice system. In this area of study, you will explore many concepts, such as factors relevant to initiating a civil lawsuit, and you will examine the methods and institutions used to resolve civil litigation. The final field of study for VCE Legal Studies! This concerns the people, the parliament and the courts. But if you`re looking at the study design and aren`t really sure which parts to watch out for, no matter what unit you do, check out the Key Knowledge and Key Skills sections! A big part of this unit is your ability to apply legal reasoning and information to cases, whether real or hypothetical, so make sure you practice this skill consistently! One of the biggest areas of this area of study that people often emphasize is recent and recommended reforms to the civil justice system. You need to be able to use a few case studies to talk about how to improve the realization of justice principles in the civil justice system, so really focus on developing an understanding of how real-world cases or scenarios relate to key concepts and ideas in the study of law. Area of study 3 focuses on rights. Pretty simple, right? In short, this area of study is designed to give you a basic knowledge of the legal system in Australia and Australian laws. For Unit 1, there are three. Let`s work through them! To do this, you need to have a good understanding of the terms and concepts surrounding remedies. As usual, you can see these terms in the Study Design Key Knowledge section! What many students struggle with in this field of study is the difference between civil law and criminal law. As you can see, some areas of civil law use wording similar to that of criminal law areas. Study Area 3 is similar to Study Area 2, except that you study criminal law instead of civil law! So, pull out your key area of knowledge for that area of study and take a look. By using and creating scenarios to answer the questions, you can learn other aspects of the key knowledge section and incorporate them into your study, so give it a try! This area of study examines in depth the role of Parliament in legislation and the relationship of the courts to how these institutions legislate and respond to legislative reform. Exam Rules (Version 3, February 2021) For Unit 4, 40 points will be awarded for your Score 1 PAS and 60 points for your Score 2 STEPS, with a total of 100 points. It then becomes another 25 percent, so units 3 and 4 together are worth 50 percent of the result of your study. In this area of study, you will need to investigate two crimes in detail.
You need to consider real or hypothetical scenarios where a person charged with a crime has been charged with the crime and use legal arguments to support various legal issues. Well, as mentioned earlier, every topic you need to learn will be covered in the “Key Knowledge” section of the study design. This section is arguably one of the most important sections for students, so read it! So much fun to learn! Read the study design and take advantage of VCE legal studies! The third and final area of study in the law study of Unit 1 is civil liability. In this area of study, you will study civil law and examine two areas of civil law in depth. Note: This study may cover the content of all areas of learning Students and teachers should note that with the introduction of a new study plan, subsequent past exams are not necessarily a guide to the current VCE exam for that study. Study Area 1 is an in-depth study of the Victorian criminal justice system and how it works. This will allow you to learn about topics such as victims` and defendants` rights, criminal justice system staff, how they decide a criminal case and much more. In this area of study, you will examine how rights are protected specifically in Australia, such as the Australian Constitution and the Victorian Charter of Human Rights and Duties. Then compare that to how another country protects rights.
The review committee reviews all responses to the consultation draft before preparing a final draft study design. Well, it will be covered in the study design, and depending on the study design, your school-assessed courses in Unit 3 (SAC) will contribute 25% of your study score. 50 points are awarded for Result 1, Your score for Study Area 1 and 50 points for the second point, i.e. Your score for Study Area 2, assigned. For each of these two areas, you can consider real or hypothetical scenarios around a civil claim and use legal arguments to support different legal issues. This is similar to Study Area 2, but with civil law instead of criminal law! Something that can help you from Study Area 1 that leads to more areas of study is the two recent criminal cases. It is important that you are able to synthesize and analyze the information against real scenarios and cases, as this will help you apply your learning. After comparing these two ways of protecting rights, you will look at how legal protection could be reformed in Australia.
Area of study 2 focuses on remedies. You will explore the different remedies in civil law, such as the methods and institutions available to resolve civil disputes, as well as the different types of remedies and their objectives. You are also investigating two civil cases in the last four years. Once you`ve learned these terms, one of the most important things is to be able to apply them in different contexts.
